The People for People foundation has just announced that they will supply Ukrainian refugees with free bank accounts.

In short:

More than 800,000 civilians have fled Ukraine to seek shelter from war and violence. Many of them are fleeing to places unknown to them. People for People has a team on the ground that noticed these refugees needed a way to make secure payments outside Ukraine.

To enable them to continue to have access to their money and to be able to spend it safely, the foundation will, in collaboration with bunq, supply Ukrainian passport holders with a free temporary bank account (depending on how the situation will unfold and what the laws and regulations will allow). Those affected get an IBAN, a European bank account number, and will be able to make payments using a virtual card.

This announcement comes shortly after the foundation’s first success shared last night. In collaboration with iPermit, People for People has started processing its first visa applications for highly skilled migrants, extensions and families.
