Supporting displaced communities in Lebanon (2024)

Conflict in Lebanon displaced hundreds of thousands, many seeking shelter in public schools and makeshift facilities. These families faced difficult living conditions, lacking basic cooking facilities and often relying on costly, unsustainable food deliveries.

People for People partnered with local organisations to provide immediate relief by distributing warm meals to displaced families. Recognising the need for longer-term solutions, we also supplied gas cookers, fuel cylinders, and food packages to shelters – helping families cook their own meals and regain autonomy.

Empowering shelters with sustainable cooking solutions

By equipping shelters with cooking facilities, we helped reduce dependence on external food deliveries, offering a more resilient and dignified way for families to meet their daily needs despite electricity shortages and other challenges.

“The most challenging days of war and displacement in Lebanon forced many families to flee their homes. People for People’s timely support allowed Beit el Baraka to provide warm, daily meals to 100 IDPs in two shelters, bringing comfort, dignity, and a sense of home when it was needed most.”
