Netherlands

Ongoing: Keeping 1,500+ children warm in the Netherlands

Winter in the Netherlands can be especially harsh for refugee children who came here on their own. Many arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs. The cold months can become a barrier to education, health, and belonging.

Each winter, we visit reception centers across the country to bring warmth to young refugees. Without proper clothing, some children are forced to stay indoors or even drop out of school. Our goal is to make sure no child is left out in the cold simply because they lack the basics.

The Winter Tour

Through our Winter Tour, launched in 2023, we deliver essential winter items like coats, shoes, gloves, and hats directly to the children who need them most. In close coordination with reception centers, we respond to urgent needs, filling gaps where existing systems fall short – ensuring every child has the warmth and care they deserve.

‘’Many children don’t have proper winter coats or gloves and face cold journeys to school. They have been asking for warm clothes for a long time, especially as the weather gets colder. The new clothing will make a real difference.’’

Here’s how you can help

No child should face winter alone. You can help us keep young refugees warm, safe and cared for during the coldest months of the year.

  • Partner with us to provide essential winter items and services – from warm clothing to mobile support.
  • Donate coats, gloves, hats, or shoes and make a direct impact to children in need.
  • Contribute financially to help fund supplies, logistics, and rapid response.

Your support helps children stay warm, go outside, and just be kids – even in crisis. Let’s make it possible, together.
