Finding employment as an asylum seeker in the Netherlands can be challenging. From obtaining digital copies of diplomas to securing recommendations to explaining employment gaps and rebuilding your network, the barriers can feel overwhelming. But several organizations have introduced programs aimed at supporting you in accessing the Dutch job market. From trainings to connecting you with employers, check out these resources:

  1. Refugee Talent Hub

This initiative organizes company visits, training sessions, courses, and work experience programs to boost the chances of securing paid employment. They collaborate closely with employers across the Netherlands including Accenture, KPMG, Rabobank and more. They also organize workshops on topics like, how to rock your LinkedIn profile and how to deliver the perfect pitch during an interview. Discover what they have to offer here.

  1. RefugeeHelp

This platform initiated by VluchtelingenWerk Nederland provides guidance on how to search for a job in the Netherlands, finding temporary work and volunteer opportunities. They also have a search engine that allows you to search for jobs in eleven different languages. Check it out here.

  1. Amsterdam UMC

Amsterdam UMC has a program for status holders in healthcare, this includes doctors, nurses, radiologists or medical assistants. The HR department will investigate in a personal conversation whether they can offer appropriate support through a networking interview, internship or intake process. Find out more here.

  1. Deloitte’s Refugee Pathways

Deloitte offers five initiatives that can help you build both hard and soft skills, from coding to coaching, and better position yourself on the job market. These initiatives are aimed at different skill and job experience levels. Find out more here.

  1. Randstad’s Refugee Employment Support

Through this program, Randstad, a global recruitment agency, can support you in finding work in the Netherlands. They offer job coaching, workshops, and local programs to support your personal development and identify a career path. Randstad also has social innovation programs aimed at improving your employability and connecting you with the right job. Learn more about the program here

  1. Azure Academy

From a new language to an invalid diploma, finding a new job can be a challenge. Offering concrete opportunities can help enormously during this transition. Microsoft and ABN AMRO offer these opportunities and support by combining training for frequently requested IT roles with follow-up in a paid job at the bank. Read more about the Azure Academy here

  1. Heroyam

Heroyam is a social staffing agency that guides refugees, asylum seekers, and status holders in the Dutch labor market. They provide personal guidance and development opportunities through training and courses, and foster a community of international flex workers. See more information here

  1. Refugees Uitzendbureau

This employment agency specializes in connecting status holders with suitable jobs. They offer personalized guidance and optional training to enhance skills and increase job market prospects. Find out more here

9. Untapped Talents

Don’t have a permit yet? Untapped Talents can help connect you with employers who are ready and able to hire non-status holders. Their current focus is on care production work, facility and catering staff. Find out more about potential job vacancies here

10. UAF

The UAF have been committed to the development of refugee students and professionals and their integration into the Dutch labor market since 1948. They are there to help connect job seekers with companies, give advice and offer guidance and financial support. 11. Tent X UNHCR X Indeed Job Fair

These three organizations have been teaming up the last few years to bring a job fair specifically dedicated to asylum seekers and people with a refugee background. The last one in Amsterdam took place on January 29th, 2025 but keep your eyes open for future announcements! Companies like IKEA, Philips, Hilton, Mariott International, Vebego and KFC have attended in previous years. Learn more here

12. Forward·Inc

Forward·Inc has different programs dedicated to supporting asylum seekers’ journey to starting their own business, no matter what stage of entrepreneurship they may be in.
