Earthquake recovery support for rural Myanmar (2025)

In March 2025, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Southeast Asia – shaking Bangkok and causing widespread devastation across Myanmar. The hardest-hit regions are home to 1.6 million internally displaced people, many already living in precarious conditions due to ongoing conflict.

People for People responded immediately by activating partnerships with grassroots organisations already working on the ground. Through a rapid collaboration with Medical Action Myanmar (MAM), we delivered one-month rice supplies to more than 100 affected families – ensuring access to a staple food source during a time of acute disruption.

Meeting urgent needs, together

Our joint efforts focus on covering urgent basic needs: food and clean water, temporary shelter, mosquito nets, blankets, floormats, solar lights, flashlights, and basic clothing. These supplies help communities regain a sense of safety and dignity while they recover from disaster.

Here’s how you can help

Earthquakes strike without warning – but together, we can be ready. Help us build a global emergency response fund to act fast when disaster hits. Your support enables us to pre-position essential supplies like food, shelter materials, and solar lights, and mobilise trusted local partners in crisis zones. Businesses can contribute through funding, in-kind donations, or emergency logistics support. We also welcome collaboration with NGOs and community-led initiatives. Every contribution strengthens our ability to respond quickly and effectively – wherever the need arises.
