Update: Supporting Ukraine during its toughest winter yet
As we announced last month, in a time of global uncertainty, People for People is stepping up to ensure there is no gap in delivering essential supplies to displaced people and hospitals in Ukraine’s war zones.
With one of the worst winters descending fast upon them in this third year of the war, and limited power capacity and hospital services, People for People, and our partner, Lifeline Ukraine, sent out a second truck full of winter clothes, boots, hats and other essential items to help people displaced by war in Ukraine.
So far in September and October we have shipped 20,000 items to Ukraine, from winter items like jackets and blankets, to hygiene products like soap and sanitary products.
September Truck 1: 8,000 items
October Truck 2: 12,000 items

Providing warmth to 1,500 unaccompanied minors this winter
As winter officially begins, we are on a critical mission to support 1,500 unaccompanied minors and children in shelters across the Netherlands. With the cold weather and relentless rain, staying warm is a daily struggle—especially for those arriving with little more than the clothes on their back.
Currently, 1,500 kids across 30 locations urgently need essential winter items like coats, shoes, blankets, and even basics like underwear. We have received overwhelming requests for nearly 1,000 winter jackets, gloves, and hats, plus over 500 raincoats.
We’re ready to hit the road in our red People for People van, crossing the Netherlands to go to nearly 30 reception centers bringing warmth, comfort and personal gifts directly to these children. While we’ll be visiting many of these centers ourselves, some will be picked up directly from our warehouse by COA. But we need your help!
We urgently need another 200 winter coats. Can your company help provide these jackets? Fill in the form here.
Preparing for the Winter Tour: 8,850 Items packed and ready
A total of 8,850 essential items were packed for this winter tour! This has kept our warehouse buzzing with activity over the past few weeks, as volunteers worked tirelessly to pack, sort, and prepare everything for the journey ahead!
How one family’s acts of kindness keep their hopes and dreams strong
In the heart of the People for People warehouse, one family is not just sorting clothes—they are weaving threads of compassion and hope for others facing uncertain futures. This remarkable family, who fled Syria, brings their talents and hearts to help unaccompanied minors in the Netherlands.
🤝 Volunteering has become their source of strength and purpose—a way to rebuild their lives while they await the chance to fully contribute to their new community.
🌈As Dania, who is seven months pregnant with her third child, reflects on her family’s journey, she dreams of a future filled with opportunity and safety for her children. But for now, the family remains hopeful, using their skills and hearts to uplift others.

A team lunch at the Bird office in Amsterdam
This month, we paid a lovely visit to one of our founding partners, Bird. At this meet and greet lunch, we got a chance to catch up with some familiar faces, meet other members of the team, and screen our latest video featuring Bird volunteers at our recent Rolling Aid Event in Amsterdam.
It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas, build closer relationships and just have fun with one of our valued partners.
Looking forward
- Stepping up our aid to Ukraine
Next month, we will continue our efforts to send much needed winter wear to Ukraine in collaboration with Lifeline Ukraine and their local partners on the ground. Stay tuned for personal stories and experiences on our socials!
- Continuing to find winter warmth partners
As we continue our campaign to ensure every child has the clothing they need this cold winter season, our team will work tirelessly on the phone, in the warehouse, and on the road – including two more Rolling Aid events this year! – until we meet each and every request. Join us!
- Taking action to support families in Lebanon
We will soon be sharing more information about how we are taking action to support families in Lebanon via local NGOs on the ground. Stay tuned!
